One screen, many screens
Ultra-wide monitors and large TVs offer plenty of space. Yet Windows treats them as a single screen: an app in full screen takes up the whole width.
Window tiling tools arrange windows, but apps still see one single screen. So the full screen of an app, a video or a game takes over the whole surface again.
VirtualScreen creates real virtual screens. For Windows and for every app, a zone becomes a screen of its own.
Everyone adapts it to their own use. At work, Figma, Claude and Slack sit side by side, each in full screen. For gaming, a game fills the main zone while Discord stays open next to it.
I designed the product end to end: scoping, specs, mockups, testing. The code was written by Claude Code, under my direction.
Key figures
3 days
from the first spec to version 1.0
3,345 tests
automated, on the engine and the interface
< 1 ms
to copy a zone, at 170 frames per second

Scoping and specs
The need fits in one sentence: any app must behave in a zone exactly as it would on a separate screen. I split the product into four workstreams, each with its own spec, plan and testing.
Figma mockups
Every screen was designed in Figma before being coded, in light and dark themes: settings, split editor, first launch, installer. The switch animations were compared in Figma before being chosen.
Development with Claude Code
Claude Code wrote the code one workstream at a time: the display engine, the interface, compatibility (protected videos, HDR, multiple monitors), then the installer. Every product and design decision stayed mine.
Testing and release
Each workstream ended with testing on a real ultra-wide monitor. The installer was tested in a virtual machine. Version 1.0 was released for free on GitHub, with updates that are offered but never forced.

Outcome
VirtualScreen 1.0.2 has been available for free since October 13, 2026. Presets or custom splits, protected videos in full screen, HDR, keyboard shortcuts: it all fits in one interface, in French and English.
