Shared inspiration

Originally a school project, Inspy became a real startup venture after a pitch to business angels. The concept quickly drew interest from French investors, companies, and design schools, giving rise to a startup with a unique position in the collaborative inspiration market.

The project started from a simple observation: designers spend 30 minutes to an hour a day on inspiration sites, but have few good tools to organize and share what they find with their team. Inspy was designed as a collaborative tool that makes that time count, makes sharing inspiration easier, and boosts collective creativity in companies and schools.

The first phase was about shaping a clear product vision. The goal: build a platform that automatically pulls in content users have liked on the main inspiration sites (Behance, Dribbble, Pinterest, and more), with tools to sort, share, and sync with the communication tools teams already use.

A large amount of research and analysis went into understanding how creative professionals work. Interviews, benchmarks, and tests helped define the app's key features: an automatically generated personal feed, smart collections based on hashtags, and syncing with tools like Slack, Discord, Figma, and Adobe XD.

The app was designed on a cross-platform architecture with a strong focus on accessibility: Inspy had to be available on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, and the web, with no compromise on smoothness or user experience. The interface was designed to adapt to each context, whether in an agency, at school, or on the go.

Particular emphasis was placed on the app's usability and art direction. The experience had to feel as modern, intuitive, and flexible as design professionals expect. Bold visual choices strengthened the brand identity while keeping navigation smooth and consistent across every view.

A robust, scalable design system was set up from the earliest stages of the project. It lets the platform grow quickly, take on new features, and stay visually and functionally consistent over time.

Collection management was designed as a core part of the app. With a smart hashtag system, every saved item is automatically sorted into themed folders, making it easier to find and share inspiration as a team.

A feature was also developed to bring Inspy directly into design software through a plugin. Teams can find their saved inspiration right in their workspace, speeding up moodboarding and client presentations.

Environmental impact was considered from the start of the technical design. No personal data is stored on the servers, and the infrastructure runs exclusively on servers powered by renewable energy, reinforcing the project's ethical commitment.

On the business side, a freemium model was defined with four plans: free, team, agency, and enterprise, to serve different kinds of organizations (freelancers, small teams, large agencies, schools, and more).

The project caught the attention of French investors from the very first pitches. Business angels helped structure the next stage of development, with funding for servers, hiring, and a large-scale marketing campaign.

Companies and schools also said they wanted to become partners, convinced the tool fit their day-to-day work. Inspy meets a concrete, universal need in creative professions.

The technical architecture also plans for APIs to connect even more inspiration platforms and scale as far as needed. The long-term ambition is to make Inspy a go-to reference in the industry, with an open, interconnected ecosystem.

Eventually, the goal is to offer personalized recommendations, tools to manage time spent on inspiration, and ways to optimize creative workflows in companies, with a potential acquisition by a major player like Adobe or Behance in view.

Inspy shows how an idea born in an academic setting can grow into a real product, driven by a clear vision, thoughtful design, and a strong ability to adapt to the needs of the professional market.
